Much Better!

By the weekend Mason was feeling much better. Last Thursday we went wedding dress shopping with Aunt Mal and Grammy. Mason was sooo good. He loved all of the mirrors in the store. I was drenched in sweat though by the time we left because these days he wants to be on the go at all times. I was holding his hands the entire time so he could walk all over the store. He loves walking! Saturday I got out of work due to the crazy snow storm that we had. Jamie and I knew it would be slow and that it would be easier for me to stay home than have one of his grandparents come into town to watch him. (darn the luck, no work for me!) Last week I also got Mason's 9 month pictures back. (he was actually 8 1/2 months at the time) I was sooo happy with them! It was a photographer from olan mills and all of the profits went to some daycare. It seriously took five minutes and Mason smiled so well for him. Since it's killing me not to blog and post new pictures due to my usb cord being broke, I decided today to scan some of his pictures. Last night Jamie and I were watching a movie and Mason was holding on to his bounce center walking all around by hanging on with one hand. He sure thought he was hot stuff! He pulls up on everything now too! Life sure has changed in our house! I still can't believe how big he is getting. I see him everyday but every week he has grown. Every day becomes more and more fun as he grows into his own little person. He sure has his own personality. He knows exactly how to get his way too. It's hard to believe in just a few months we'll be celebrating his 1st birthday.

sick sick sick

This has by far been the worst week for poor little Mase. This is his first time being really sick. He has a terrible cough, bad runny nose, fever and most likely a sore throat since these are all of my symptoms from last week. On top of all of this I think our top little toothies will be coming in soon. We are drooling like crazy and want to bite down on everything. It will be a few days before I can post any pictures because Mason has also drooled on the USB cord for the camera and ruined it. We have tried some new foods this week! Mommy's favorite thing when she is sick is chocolate pudding! Mason hasn't had a great appetite this week so I thought he would enjoy some pudding. He hated it! Haha! Just kidding! He loved it. We also tried some homemade mac n cheese the other day. He ate it very well. Our third new food wasn't really to eat, just to chew on. Beef jerky! Sounds crazy but our doctor is the one who told us he gave it to his kids when they were teething. Mason was occuppied for at least 30 minutes with this. After it starts getting broke down enough for them to swallow you just take it away so they don't actually eat it. It was a great idea! Mason had some medicine called in for him a few days ago but I feel like he's getting worse so we are going back to the doctor later this afternoon. Hopefully we get something strong to get rid of this nasty thing! I am still not 100% better from last week. I feel soooo bad for giving it to him but I tried to stay out of his face as much as possible. I even had my mom take him one afternoon so he wouldn't be near me. One more interesting thing in Mason's life: we can stand all by ourselves! He is very good at standing but gets so mad when I let go of him. I think he's a bit too sheltered and doesn't want to do anything on his own. He will stand for quite a while on his own until he realizes I don't have a hold of him and then starts grabbing for my hands. This is what makes us fall down and go boom. He is also doing very well with walking while we hold his hands. We just have to convince him that he can do it without us! Maybe we skipped crawling for a reason, who knows!

Biggest Little Jayhawk Fan

We love Kansas basketball! Mason has been watching KU play since he was just a little guy in my tummy. I'm sure he heard all of the commotion the night they won the championship last year. I remember the night of the game going to bleacher gear to buy shirts after the game and Jamie and I bought him his first KU binky. We got Mason a little basketball goal for Christmas and he has loved playing with it. He has been exposed to sports very early in life, whether its the being on the green at the golf course at just a few weeks old or watching daddy play basketball in the gym this winter. He doesn't care what sport it is, he loves to watch them all! We are proud our boys played so well this afternoon and hope they do good again this Friday! Rock Chalk! Grandma and Grandpa also helped Daddy install a fan in the living room today and Mason had fun playing with the ladder. Of course we had to lick it to see what it tasted like! We also went to visit Great Great Grandma and are very happy she is feeling much better. Mason sat on her bed by her and pulled out MANY of her kleenexes from the box. He watched me stuff them all back in the box and then pull them all out again. Aunt Mal also shared some of grandma's treats with him. Well let's just say I wasn't surprised to see that my child likes Milky Ways. Thanks for the candy Grandma! Something else we have started doing this week is putting our shapes in the shapes box. The middle of the box has a big hole and you can put them in the box that way or through the sides where there is a special side for each shape. (star, square, triangle, circle) For awhile I had just been showing him how to put them in the big middle hole which is the top of the box that is open. He would never do it, but he would pull them all out which I thought was funny. The past few days I would put the shape by the hole that was the matching shape and just lay it across the hole and see if he could turn it the direction it needed to be to fit down into the hole. He sure did! I was very excited that he is learning so well from what we show him. (I hope the whole shape box story wasn't too confusing!)

9 months old!

So I'm still behind with my postings so even though I am posting today and talking about today, the pictures of Mason are actually from yesterday, Wednesday when he turned 9 months old. I say this all the time but I really mean it, where does the time go?????????????? Yesterday Mason entertained himself for way too long with of course none of the many toys that have been bought for him BUT it was an empty wipes container. He had a blast opening and shutting the lid...until he shut his fingers in the lid. It was sad to see him whimper but funny to see the reasoning for it was that his left hand was holding the lid down on his right hand. If only he knew to move that little hand the other hand would not be getting squished. Mason's 9 month check up went really well today. I was very worried about him still not crawling but the doctor said it was fine and no big deal. Mason weighs 23 lbs and 11 oz and is 30 1/2 inches long. Today we finally dropped Mason's crib down. This just helps him to pull himself up even more but at least now I don't have to worry about him flipping over the top of it. This whole week we have went to get Mason from his crib when he wakes up and find him sitting up in it. Last night I layed Mason down for bed and he was still awake. I was laying in my bed hoping he would fall asleep but expecting him to fuss. No, all I could hear was him happily talking to himself. I wondered why my sleepy baby who hates bed time was in such a good mood to BE in bed. I go in there to find him sitting up peering over the crib at me. He was in a good mood because he was up in bed playing. That's when Jamie and I knew we couldn't wait to lower his crib any longer. And I almost forgot to mention that last weekend Mason can play peek-a-boo! He pulls up his shirt or his blankie over his face and then waits for us to pull it down and say "peek-a-boo!" He loves it! Funny how he always wants to play at bedtime now!

Mom's Lucky Charm

Happy late St. Patty's Day. I had to rush a few pics of Mason in his St. Patrick's Day shirt before he went to stay with Grandma and Grandpa Lawrence. He is talking very loudly at me so that is why his mouth is open in some of the pictures. I normally only work Friday and Saturday nights but because Jamie thought we would be busy at Kitchen Pass for the green holiday I went to work yesterday. AND we were extremely busy at the end of the night which I was not hoping for. I started feeling sick on Monday evening and by the end of work last night I felt terrible. Today Mason went with my mom to my great grandma's club and got to play with his cousins Elsie and Ella. I heard poor Lathen was sick too and couldn't come. I felt terrible not spending anytime with Mason last night or today but at the same time, I don't want him getting sick either.

Sharing

Mason seems to have no problem sharing his toys with others but another little person in our house sure does! Rosie did not like it when Mason was trying to play with her toys. I also ordered Mason a bunch of spring/summer clothes from the Childrens Place and they arrived today along with his Easter outfit. I was so excited to try it on him but he did not enjoy it so much. I ordered everything in a 24 mo size which was probably a mistake. I should have ordered 18 mo. but pants and shorts are always so tight on him in the waist. Everything is big, but oh well he'll grow into them I guess.

Glamour Shots in the Backyard

I've come to accept the fact that Mason will not smile when I get out the camera. I was bored this afternoon and tried getting in some pictures. I was not as successful as I wanted to be. My sister and mom have both had the flu so I had to stay home from zumba tonight from lack of a sitter. Mason has never had anyone watch him that wasn't an aunt or grandparent until tonight. I had Carla Pawlus, the owner of KP's wife, watch him while I went to the gym later this evening. I feel bad because Mason is definitely to the stage where he knows when I am not with him and he does NOT like it. When I went to pick him up he was still sniffling from being upset. Hopefully neither Carla or Mason are scarred from this experience!
