Sleep, Stretch, Sleep Some More!

Mason and His Buddies

Today was a busy day for Mase. This afternoon my friends Chelse and Kinzi came and visited. Chelse has a daughter named Tylee who is one week younger than Mason. Mason is a whole pound heavier than Tylee, it doesn't sound like a lot, but you can sure tell the difference. Both babies slept the whole time which made it very nice to get to visit with another new mommy. Rosie has also found a new interest in Mason. She usually ignores him, but she has recently figured out that he is a good snuggle partner. It's cute that she wants to snuggle but she is having a hard time understanding why she can't be all over him like she is with me and Jamie. Poor Rosie. My mom and I got more wedding planning done this evening so Aunt Mallory got to babysit. I think she took him all over Parsons showing him off to her friends. I also found new pictures on my camera that I didn't take so she must have gotten into photographer mode. He is starting to coo and smile much more. Now he will entertain himself for awhile if we lay him down. His new favorite sleeping position is now on his belly. He sleeps so soundly that way but I am too afraid to let him do it through the night. I think it helps him work out his gas laying on his belly because he toots a lot more and cries a lot less. (Here I go jinxing myself again.) Tomorrow Mason gets to go wedding dress shopping with Mommy, Grammy, and Aunt Mallory. I'm sure he's very excited and promises to be on his best behavior.

Nap time!

Yesterday I layed Mason down on his back to take a nap in our chair and he rolled himself over on his side! He had been sleeping very well through the night but I always jinx myself by telling someone that and then... we have a very long night. The past two nights he has been awake all through the night. Yesterday he didn't even nap very well so I thought for sure he would be exhausted last night. Well I was wrong. Jamie took him for a car ride at 6 am thinking that would help. He came home when Mason was really quiet and he thought he had finally fallen asleep. Jamie went to get him out of the carseat and his eyes were wide open. He does a good job at tricking us sometimes. He finally went to sleep around 7 am. Yesterday Mason always giggled! It's so fun to watch him and wonder what he is thinking about. He is definitely a momma's boy already. He sleeps so good when we snuggle together. He likes to be held. The minute I lay him down to sleep on his own he starts fussing. It's cute, but gets exhausting. He might be a little spoiled already. Oops! Oh well, they're only this little once! :)

1 month checkup

Today was Mason's 1 month check-up at the doctor. He now weighs 11 lbs 6.5 oz and is 22 inches long. It was so sad the other day cleaning out his newborn clothes from his dresser. He's too big for them now and is filling out his 0-3 mo. clothing nicely. Mason's new favorite thing to do is sleeping on his back and stretching out. Before, we would have him sleep in his boppy chair or swing. Now he is doing very well sleeping on his back and it's so funny to watch him stretch and sprawl out. Another favorite of Mason's is to bounce with mommy on the exercise ball. It calms him down instantly. As he is getting older he is starting to get so cranky when he knows he is about to fall asleep. He fights it as long as he can and he is very good at it. For the past week he has slept through the night for us except for one very bad night. Saturday night Mason decided to stay up ALL night long. Somehow we all survived and had very nice long afternoon naps Sunday.

Mason's First Golf Adventure

Yesterday was Mason's first time going to the Katy to golf with me and Jamie. He slept most of the time, I think he liked riding in the golf cart. He opened his eyes off and on to look all around at the scenery, but then go right back to sleep. It was also my first time golfing without my pregnant belly. I had improved a little...but not much. It's definitely an addictive game so I understand why Jamie wants to go all the time. Last night was also the first time Mason didn't scream bloody murder through his bath. I guess that means he's getting used to it. We are still waiting for his cord to fall off so he can experience a real bath. It's so close so we are just waiting. He will be 4 weeks old tomorrow. CRAZY! At first I just couldn't wait for him to get bigger to do all kinds of things with him, and now I'm sad because all I think about is how I'm never going to get that time back with him when he was a newborn. He is starting to stay awake for longer periods of time throughout the day. It's like he thinks he is going to miss out on something if he falls asleep. Last weekend was our first weekend away from daddy also. Jamie had a bachelor party in Lawrence all weekend so Grammy came and stayed with us. It was so nice getting caught up on my sleep again because Grammy LOVES holding Mason.

3 Weeks Old!

Today is Mason's 3 week birthday! He is changing so much, and each day his little belly seems to be chubbier and chubbier. The rest of his body (arms and legs) are still long and skinny. He is constantly moving and acting like he is ready to run a marathon. I'm sure that's a good sign for his future athletic career. My mom kept kissing his nose tonight and he made his first giggle. I could not believe how much it sounded like a little kid, not a baby. He continues to want to lift and hold up his own head. Kelly (my friend) was giving Mason a lecture on enjoying being a baby and to not try to grow up too fast. Haha. Each week his sleeping/eating routine has changed. This week he is eating less at a time but way more often. He is only sleeping for a few hours at a time, but at least it's from 2-4 am, which used to be his play time. I think he is going through a growth spurt so he is hungry more often. Today I got my hair done and it took all afternoon so Jamie took Mason to work with him. It was so nice to get out of the house. Poor Jamie started to get busy and kept trying to call me before I was done, luckily one of the girls there was able to keep an eye on Mason. Tonight my neighbor came over to show me her new baby. She had a girl a week and a half ago so Mason already has a little friend on the block. Comparing the two of them really made me realize how much Mason has grown, he looked so long compared to her. Time really does fly! Tomorrow night is my friend Sherie's 21st birthday and will be my first night to go out since the baby. I'm a little worried but excited at the same time. I wish I had more pictures of Mason with his eyes open, all I ever seem to catch are his eyelids!

Shopping

Today Jamie and I got brave and decided to go spend the day in Joplin shopping with Mason. He did great! He slept the whole time, and never fussed at all. It was so nice at the mall because they have a great room that is just for nursing. It has a changing table, sink, and two comfy chairs. Mason loved looking at himself in the mirror while he was getting changed. It was hilarious. Daddy also popped Mason's collar to match his. I guess he is trendy at an early age. We had a great day and decided to chance it on going to eat dinner at Red Lobster and hope that Mason behaved well. He was perfect of course. My perfect baby. :) After coming home, we realized that little Mason got the most goodies out of all of us. It's just more fun buying for him now than us! Jamie bought a book called "The Caveman's Guide to Baby's First Year." I'm anxious to read it. We did one of the quizzes it had and it was not so easy... I was so excited to stop using newborn diapers and started using the size 1's because Mason is over 8 lbs now. Well, after a few leaks I decided it might've been a little too soon so we are back to newborn diapers for a few more weeks. I'm tired of scrubbing poo stains out of clothes. He is out of newborn clothes though. He now wears a size 0-3 months. They are a little baggy but the newborn clothes were too tight in the length. I feel like every morning when I look at him he has grown so much!

Family

Mason had a very busy day yesterday meeting lots of new family that were in town for the 4th of July. He enjoyed being held by all of his relatives as he slept soundly. Last night was also the first night this week that he slept from 2 am to 5 am. FINALLY! We learned how much he likes his mobile over his crib and it does a very good job at keeping him awake and stimulated. Now we bathe him and put him in the crib to watch his teddy bears spin around and around. He got up around 5 this morning and I fed him, but at 6 he was still wide awake and not wanting to go back to sleep. Jamie and I decided it was time for a car ride so we went to Braums to get breakfast. By the time we got home, little Masey was out and we got to sleep til 12! WAHOO! The first week home from the hospital he did great sleeping through the night but this past week he has gotten his days and nights mixed up. We are in the process of correcting this. haha.

4th of July

Mason took his first trip to Independence on the 4th of July. He enjoyed the car ride very much and decided to sleep through all the fireworks. Noise doesn't seem to bother him at all. I guess that's a good thing. He did nail Aunt Jennifer and give her a nice little shower when I changed his diaper. Mason didn't sport his red, white, and blue outfit for very long.

Two Weeks Old!

Today is Mason's 2 week birthday! Monday night was his first trip to Kitchen Pass. Mommy and Mason went to eat with Daddy at work. Mason had so much fun, he slept the whole time. Haha. Tuesday we went to Mason's doctor because his little eye had been getting yucky. We got some eye drops and it is doing much better. He gained 4 more ounces too, he now weighs 8lbs 10 oz. His newborn diapers and clothes are finally starting to get a little snug on him. I think I jinxed myself last week bragging about how good he sleeps through the night for us. For the past 4 nights, Mason thinks that playtime is now from 2am-5am. Mommy and Daddy tried keeping him up last night and playing with him but it still didn't work. Mason's days and nights are very mixed up. Tonight we went to the nursing home to visit Mason's Great Great Grandma Tedstrom. They had a fourth of july party for the families to come to. Mason slept through all of the fireworks, the noise didn't seem to bother him one bit. Rosie was scared out of her mind and I had to hold her through the entire thing. I'm finally starting to get into gear with the wedding planning. I think it's because I am starting to freak out about how much I have left to do! I went to Wal-Mart tonight to buy a gurdle thinking it would help me fit into my old clothes.......WRONG. I am so impatient and upset about this whole baby weight thing. Miracles should not be expected. I've been weighing myself like three times a day thinking magically something will change. I have lost half of what I gained through pregnancy but still have 17 more lbs to go. I can tell this is not going to be easy. I always heard breastfeeding took the weight right off of you, I guess I'm not one of those fortunate souls. Mason is very excited for the weekend to meet all kinds of family!
